I have memories of dancing around my house to his music. There's video of me somewhere lip-synching "Beat It" when I was probably seven, with a flashlight on my face. The first time I saw the "Thriller" video, I was so excited. I have such a fascination with Halloween and he was tapping into the whole Halloween zombie vibe. For one Halloween I had to be a werewolf. I remember going to Disneyland to see Captain Eo, which was the coolest thing in the world. His imagination was leaps and bounds beyond most of the other artists around. A lot of kids of my generation really connected with him because he was so magical in that way. He was like a big kid in the way he wanted to play dress up and create...
If there was any question that Adam Lambert stands out as one of the most interesting performers ever to strut through America's flighty pop culture conscience, then you need only chat with him a few minutes for confirmation.
Firstly, he just got a new iPhone and he's using it from his hotel room in Portland and he isn't quite sure how it works, so, um, sorry if he accidentally cuts you off...
The "American Idol 2009 Summer Tour" kicked off on July 5. Now, ET talks to season eight runner-up Adam Lambert about the tour, his upcoming album and why he chose to wait so long to come out.
ET: Can you talk about how you envision your upcoming album?
Adam Lambert: I am so excited, because I am getting to write with the top people in the business and that is such an honor. I never would have never gotten that opportunity if it hadn't been for this. A lot of people go, "Are you rock, or are you pop? What's your genre?" I did a bunch of different genres on "Idol," so I don't know why I have to pick one....
AMERICAN IDOL 8 season eight runner-up Adam Lambert talked to Entertainment Tonight about the 'IDOL' tour, his upcoming debut album and his very public "coming out." Find a sneak peek of the interview below.
ET: What will you perform on the tour?
Adam Lambert: I am doing a David Bowie medley at the end of my set: "Life on Mars?," "Fame" and "Let's Dance." We are doing it much like I am doing my album. We are trying to produce them with an electronic, dance-driven edge. Hopefully, it will set the tone for the type of material I am doing..

VANCOUVER - If there was any question that Adam Lambert stands out as one of the most interesting performers ever to strut through America’s flighty pop culture conscience, then you need only chat with him a few minutes for confirmation.
Firstly, he just got a new iPhone and he’s using from his hotel room in Portland and he isn’t quite sure how it works, so, um, sorry if he accidentally cuts you off...
...On what he thinks about American Idol runner up Adam Lambert: “I know him, actually. He’s like the most freaking talented singer I’ve ever met in my entire life. I saw something today that Gene Simmons said it was the biggest mistake he could ever make and I feel like that is just an old-school mentality. He’s operating on the assumption that people aren’t gonna respect that or relate to it in Milwaukee. I think Adam is such an unbelievable talent that that’s not really why you’re buying his record; it’s because of his complete authenticity.”...
Goth kids, soccer moms and diehard Idol junkies — including one superfan with Clay Aiken’s autograph tattooed on her shoulder — packed Portland, Oregon’s Rose Garden last night for the inaugural performance of American Idol’s summer tour. (Go behind the scenes with Lambert and Co. hours before showtime here.)
The two biggest stars of the show — winner Kris Allen and runner-up Adam Lambert — embraced what endeared them to millions of fans throughout Season Eight. “Glambert” was out in full force, with tight pants, his otherworldly wail and a tribute to the original rock androgyne, David Bowie....
Favorite Halloween costume:
- Adam: "I was a glam pirate, and then a glampire." Guess they don't call him Glambert for nothing!
- Lil: a pumpkin. (This causes Adam to laugh out loud.) This was clarified as actually being a jack-o-lantern.
I told Adam about all the tweets from fans in Asia and asked him he expected to tour over there. He said he hopes so, especially because they're viewing the new album as "a world release."
I asked Lil about the good and the bad about going on tour:
- The good: "I checked out the bed on the bus and it's not so bad!"
- The bad: "The routine," singing the same songs night after night.
Back to Adam: Got a release date for the first single yet? "Well the album's slated for November, so I expect either October or November, but nothing's set yet."..
The American Idols Tour "hits the road" this summer. It was announced today that he top 10 finalists, Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Joy, Michael Sarver, and Scott MacIntyre, will take the stage on a 50 city tour beginning July 5th.
The New York Post announced last month that former 'WICKED' cast member Adam Lambert is the odds-on favorite to be the next "American Idol."...
