'American Idol:' Adam Lambert's lasting impact -- did singer set the bar for future contestants?

From the moment that the former American Idol finalist Adam Lambert gave his audition for the show, the nation was captivated. When Lambert stepped on stage for the first time during the show after Hollywood week - fans and viewers alike knew that he was something special. It was hard to think of anyone other than Lambert winning the competition - not only because of his voice, but because of his ability to take a song, make it his own, and be brilliant with it. A new article by HispanicBusiness.com discusses the past week of American Idol, and how Lambert has had a lasting impact on his fans, comparing this current week on Idol to last year when Lambert wowed on the show with his pick.

This week's theme on Idol was the Rolling Stones. Joshua Molina points out with his article that Lambert mesmerized with his Rolling Stones pick last year: "The Top 12 American Idol contestants sang Stones' songs last night to mixed reviews. But a year ago around this time Adam Lambert was impressing the judges with his version of "Satisfaction."

Adam Lambert's performance was vintage Lambert, vocal muscle, dynamic stage presence, and an energy around him that filled the room with excitement."

In the mind of Adam Lambert

Adam Lambert has spent the last week in the news and it has ranged from opinions on Susan Boyle, male figure skating and who the next American Idol will be. So while our talented Adam Lambert is making amazing music and lots of appearances, Adam Lambert is also busy opinionating on lots of other cultural things that are going on.

The latest opinion that Adam Lambert has voiced is around figure skater Johnny Weir. Johnny Weir has been a very ostentatious in his Olympic performances and it has been said that he is setting a bad example for other professional skaters, Adam Lambert came to his defense. Adam Lambert said to Access Hollywood, "I'm glad he's a trailblazer. He's comfortable in his own skin, clearly. And he's expressing himself. I think that's what art's all about."

Adam Lambert certainly knows what its like to be called flamboyant and ostentatious after the backlash over his cutting-edge performance at the American Music Awards last November. Adam Lambert has never apologized for that performance and he stands by it, even though he realizes that not all people appreciated the artistic value or message.

There has also been stories this week that Adam Lambert supposedly trashed Susan Boyle. In an interview with Gay Times magazine Adam Lambert said, ""I'm happy for her success, but that album is terrible. 'Wild Horses' is the one that made me laugh the hardest. I just died when I heard it, I was crying with laughter. It was the most horrendous, sacrilegious treatment of that song!"

Adam Lambert was answering in the context of humor when he was asked about the fact that his debut album sold 200,000 copies in its first week and that he was outsold by Boyle. Adam Lambert said it with laughter and we know he doesn't take himself too seriously. Adam went on to say, "Still, when my album charted, it was validating. I was feeling
And now Adam Lambert has tweeted about who his fave contestant is for this new season of American Idol, Todrick Hall. "[Todrick is] def gonna surprise us!! Mad talent!! Def the full package." Adam also had good things to say about Casey James and Andrew Garcia as well. "Casey is def the real deal. Authentic. Andrew Garcia's too."
It will be interesting now to watch American Idol and see if any of Adam Lambert's early favorites will be true. I think the talent rests with Lee Dewyze and that he is the next American Idol.

But in the end the ultimate performer found by American Idol to date is Adam Lambert!

Adam Lambert fesses up to kissing 'Tik Tok' singer Ke$ha

Adam Lambert might have come out of the closet. But apparently every now and then, he sneaks back in to steal a kiss.

The "American Idol" runner up told Long Island radio station WBLI's BLI In the Morning that he recently engaged in a passionate kissing session with "Tik Tok" singer, Ke$ha. Lambert explained on-air that he doesn't have a problem smooching women. It's the "energy" that draws him to a person.

"She's really pretty and we were laughing and we just started kissing," says the "Idol" star.

Lambert might have eyes for Ke$ha, but this year's "Idol" contestants have been all-eyes-on-Lambert as a role model. According to "Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi, Season 9's talent pool has been "interpreting songs from the get-go," dubbing it the "Adam Lambert effect."

We already have our frontrunner picks here at Zap2it, and we'll be watching round the clock, Tik Tok, to bring you up-to-the-second coverage of "Idol."

Adoring fans at Gridlocks New Years Eve Party

Adam Lambert performed for his adoring fans at Gridlock's New Year's Eve Bash. He played ten songs from his debut album For Your Entertainment in front of nearly 5,000 people.

Adam Lambert's fans are among the most loyal and passionate fans of any performer. They refer to themselves as Glamberts or Glamily to show their loving support for this rising star.

Indeed, it seems that everything Adam Lambert touches these days turns to gold. No one will remember him as coming in second place to Kris Allen on American Idol. Adam Lambert is second to no one.

In spite of being the victim of a double standard that should have ceased to exist sometime in the last century, Adam Lambert maintains a fantastic attitude. When asked by maximotv.com in an interview just prior to his Gridlock New Year's Eve Bash performance what his plans were for the New Year, Adam Lambert responded that he will "keep being positive and looking forward." Who could ask for anything more?

Adam Lambert's dazzling, and much discussed, performance at the AMAs only served to help his record sales and boost his popularity. He is a kind, thoughtful, and well-spoken man who obviously appreciates his fans; and he is indeed a mesmerizing performer. Watch him once and you will find it difficult to tear yourself away.

Talking about ignoring critics and being himself

Posted by giorgy on 31 Dec 2009 // Category: News //

Adam Lambert isn't trying to shock or offend people with some of his more controversial dance moves; rather, he's just expressing himself. The "American Idol" runner-up summed up these feelings in a new interview, in which he discusses everything from his sexuality to his style of performing.

One thing is for certain: Adam does not want to be stereotyped or labeled as "just another performer." When talking about his style on "American Idol," he had this to say:

“I mean, I kind of went for shock value on Idol. Did you guys not see me with rhinestones around my eyes and platform glitter boots on the finale? I kind of thought I had stepped it up and bought myself that leeway...It’s been a while since a very visible male performer has publicly experimented with androgyny. It’s just not current anymore. I’m trying to make it current again. I’ve always been attracted to that. That’s my thing.”

Adam Lambert will have a few more opportunities to show off his performing style again, including an upcoming concert appearance on New Year's Eve. The future is still relatively vague for the singer, but we can be certain it will include a number of TV appearances.

Adam Lambert Doesn't Have A Makeup Line ... Yet: The MTV News Quote Of The Day

Posted by giorgy on 23 Dec 2009 // Category: News //

"I haven't started a makeup line. I might, but I haven't yet. My father was rumored to be mortified by what I did [at the 'American Music Awards'] and that we're not speaking. That's a rumor. ... I think Bill O'Reilly perpetuated that. Lovely man. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. [My dad and I] were laughing about it ... so that was a rumor."

-Adam Lambert talking to Jay Leno on "The Jay Leno Show" about a number of rumors about him that he wanted to squash. The "American Idol" runner-up dropped in on the comedian's nightly talk show to chat about his album For Your Entertainment, the jobs he had before he was famous (he was a barista who would come home stinking of coffee beans), what he thought "American Idol" would be like without Paula Abdul and what his younger brother is up to. Lambert also shared his year-end picks with MTV News. He endorsed releases by Lady Gaga, Pink, Kings of Leon and Ke$ha. As for his pick for "Man of the Year" (a title MTV News awarded to the late Michael Jackson), Lambert said, "I don't know who I would say. That's a tough question. Obama's a good one. Tiger Woods, not so much for me?"
